School Meals

We are proud to offer a range of delicious, fresh meals, cooked on site by our catering team ‘Grow’, in the school dining hall. Here, the children can enjoy their meal times by socialising with other year groups and siblings. We serve freshly cooked meals daily with a vegetarian option available. Meal times are interesting and healthy with a variety of seasonal fruit, vegetables and more- our school Council play an active role in ensuring that meal options are child-friendly! Each morning, the children select their lunch choice from the meal of the day, or a jacket potato. Lunch money is paid online, using the Parent Pay portal, school dinners cost £2.85.

Lunch Time in Early Years
Children in nursery and reception have their lunch in the comfort of their own classroom! The meals are served in just the same way as in the hall but this way, the children feel much more at home eating in a very familiar environment.
UNIVERSAL FREE SCHOOL MEALS FOR YEARS reception TO YEAR 2
If your children are in reception, year 1 or year 2 are entitled to a Universal Free School Meal. You will be required to complete a form on your entry to school as registering could raise extra funds for the school, to fund valuable support like extra tuition, additional teaching or school activities. From year 3 to 6 you need to apply separately for Free School Meals, so please use the link below for further information.
Free School Meals
To find out if you are eligible and to apply for free school meals, visit Telford & Wrekin’s free school meals page:
Telford & Wrekin: Free School Meals
From September 2026 , more children will become eligible for a free school meal every day, including many families in receipt of Universal Credit. We know this will be really welcome news and will help support many families with the cost of living, while ensuring children benefit from a healthy meal during the school day.
What this means for your family
There will now be two categories of Free School Meals:
· Targeted FSM – for some lower-income families and other qualifying groups
· Expanded FSM – for families who receive Universal Credit
Both categories mean your child can receive a free daily school meal.
However, some additional support linked to low income (such as extra funding for schools and additional services) is linked specifically to the Targeted FSM category. This is why it is really important that we have the correct eligibility information for every child.
What you need to do – IMPORTANT
Free School Meals are not automatically applied, even if you receive Universal Credit. Every family must complete an eligibility check.
In addition, the previous transitional protections end in July 2026, meaning all eligibility must now be re-confirmed for the new school year.
👉 Please ensure you complete the eligibility registration by scanning the QR code by 31 August 2026

You should complete the form if:
· your child currently receives free school meals
· you receive Universal Credit
· you are unsure whether your child may be eligible
If in doubt, we strongly encourage you to apply, it is quick to check and could unlock valuable support for your child and the school.
We are here to help
We understand that forms and eligibility checks can sometimes feel difficult, and we want to reassure you that support is available. If you need any help completing the form or are unsure about your eligibility, please contact the school office, we are very happy to support you in a friendly and confidential way.
Sandwiches and Packed Lunches
Children are welcome to bring packed lunches to school if they prefer that to school meals. They are eaten in the school hall alongside the children with school meals. Similarly, early years children with sandwiches also eat with their classmates. We ask that parents offer a packed lunch that provides a healthy and varied selection of foods. Due to allergies, we do not allow nut based products. We do not permit children to bring fizzy drinks to school, but encourage water, or sugar free squash.
